They resisted bravely, but there was no hope. First the shields went down. Then we broke through the armor plates. And then there was Light.
This is one of my latest and favorite EVE Artworks done. For the past months I've been living off doing artworks (I work as a digital artist IRL so to me it's more like a hobby) and renders of EVE Stuff for ISK.
The scene was comissioned by a Goonfleet member and as you might recognize, the exploding ship in the background is a Typhoon, or the rests of it. The universe is inspired in an EVE background, but repainted. I like to painfully paint each of the stars, but I still want to improve my technique.
I have been doing these all the time lately, but decided to post here for a first time to see what's the reaction if it's good I'll post then my Pink Thanatos for fun . I'm also considering opening a website for EVE Artworks and comissions, since I'm about done with my EVE Screenshots gallery (got what is probably the last update ready, with drones and the Hel mothership).
Hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for seeing. C&C appreciated!

Cool, I'll wait for it.
Originally by: Gnulpie Very nice!!
The background is a bit bright for my taste though. I think it if would be toned down a bit the explosion would be even more dramatically
Funny how tastes differ, I found it to be too dark. I was actually playing around with it, since I wanted a background with that "EVE" feeling but I never have the courage to lighten it up too much.
Thanks anyway :)

Originally by: Straight Chillen Verry nicely done, I take it you did this in MAX juding by the xplo?
I personally think the explosion could use a little lovin tho, I've never been a fan of the explosion plugins. I think it would look even sicker if u took the model (looks like a phoon?) and butchered it up into a few different objects, and then made it look like its breaking apart, and use volumetrics for the explosion and flames.
Donno how easy that is to do in MAX tho, i've always been a Lightwave3d man my self.
Great stuff, looking foward to seeing more.
That's what I did. The explosion you see is a composition of three different renders with a 60k poly models. If you just run a plugin it will look very different.

Quote: On the flip side, nobody but artists will be able to appreciate the corrections that I've made or be able to understand why they were suggested in the first place. All the laymen out there will always focus on the wrong things, being easily dazzled with lens flares and filter effects.
I thank you for the criticisms even though I disagree with some things. Constructive C&C is always good and appreciated.

Btw, if anyone wants to convert screenshots into a more organic picture then try sketch effect
It can make some pretty good pictures.
A "painting" of a rifter
and a rupture van Goth style
I don't like these filters for some reason. They look too artificial to me.

Like I said, I appreciate the C&C and agree that the composition could be better! Wasn't expecting critics about the contrast though, so I'll be looking for that in the future
However like I said, it was a comission. In addition to my work (where I really have to excel and I do post on cgtalk and conceptart for C&C, they're always good) these EVE pics are comissions - I finish one, move to another, because it's how I make ISK. That means I need to finish them fast, preferably in less than one day.
I'm happy that people liked it though. Nobody commented on the pink thanathos though
